Samsung recently provided some detailed information on its latest Exynos processor, the Exynos 5 Dual. Despite running on two cores instead of its four-core predecessor, the Exynos 5 Dual is deemed a “substantial upgrade” due to its ARM15 architecture and features. The Exynos 5 Dual incorporates the latest dual-core Mali-T604 GPU which supports stereoscopic 3D as well as resolutions up to 2560 x 1600. Intriguingly, it also supports DirectX 11, as well as incorporating USB 3.0 and SATA III controllers into the chip. Memory has also been upgraded from 400MHz LPDDR2 to 800MHz LPDDR3. Unfortunately, it will be some time yet before we are able to see this nano-beast in action, as Samsung are yet to announce any new product that will run on the processor. (source)
