Diving into the affordable smartphone market headfirst, HTC have unveiled their latest device, the HTC Explorer, easily HTC's most affordable smartphone. The HTC explorer features a curved, compact design as well as a 3.2inch HVGA touchscreen, 3MP camera and of course the beautiful HTC Sense.
The explorer features a 600MHz processor and 512MB of RAM which should be enough to deal with basic usage but not much else. No word on which version of Android the Explorer is running but according to the press release it is said to be running the "latest Android OS", at least until Ice Cream Sandwich comes out.
Looking at the specs for the phone, you wonder what exactly HTC are thinking with the Explorer. Priced at a seemingly reasonable RM749 until you compare it to other "low end" smartphones from HTC's Korean competitor, you can see how quickly this device loses out in features and in price. Nevertheless, if you are happy to pay a slight premium for HTC's stellar build quality or are brand loyal, check out the HTC explorer at all authorised resellers today.
