Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Review

As if its product line is not confusing enough, Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Tab 2 – the company’s first Ice Cream Sandwich tablet and the proper replacement for the original 7-inch Galaxy Tab.

Not to be confused with the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which was once upon a time called the Galaxy Tab 2, the freshly announced Galaxy Tab 2 is a 7-inch tablet that shares some similarities with the Galaxy 7.0 Plus but with lower specs.

The Galaxy Tab 2 features a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB RAM, in comparison, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has a slightly faster 1.2GHz dual-core processor but with the same amount of RAM. However, the 7-inch (1024×600) PLS TFT LCD display on the Tab 2 is similar to the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, as is the 3MP rear camera. The front camera on is a VGA camera unit compared to the 2MP unit on the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The Tab 2 is also thicker than the Tab 7.0 Plus at 10.5mm versus 9.9mm

Other than that, you get a Samsung TouchWiz UI skin with Live Panel, HSPA+ support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS, 16 or 32GB internal memory, microSD card slot and a 4,000mAh battery. There should be WiFi-only and WiFi+3G versions as well.

No word on whether this device will be coming to Malaysia but the specs suggest that this device will sit at the bottom rung of the Galaxy Tab ladder of device. So if it does make it to Malaysia expect the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 to be cheap.
